"Broken Heart-Beatz Vol 1" is a collection of recordings created between 1998-2003 by Kraze One using the Roland S750 sampler. Two of the compositions included in the project (Floating Spirits, Escape From CMK) were also released as a 7" vinyl single in 2001 by Apeman Records (www.discogs.com/release/96540-Kraze-One-Escape-From-CMK-Floating-Spirits).

During the early 1990s while actively participating in Hip Hop cultures elements of rapping and deejaying Kraze One began to explore sound recording and music production techniques as a means to construct and create Hip Hop music.

The process of working alongside studio engineers in his hometown of Buckingham inspired Kraze One to set up and establish his own production suite One On One Productions when he relocated to neighbouring Milton Keynes in 1998.

Kraze One's primary focus during this period was the creation of traditional Hip Hop music most of which featured contributions from various members of pioneering Hip Hop collective True Element (djkrazeone.bandcamp.com/album/true-element-the-road-less-travelled-lp-free-download-1998-2002).

While digging in the crates and unearthing different breakbeats and samples Kraze One expanded his production techniques and began contributing to several Soul music and trip hop productions, the later of which form the musical foundations of this release.

"Broken Heart-Beatz Vol 1" was originally compiled as a promotional CD by Kraze One in the year 2000 to showcase his musical projects that developed independently of the True Element Hip Hop collective.
The title "Broken Heart-Beatz" is intended to be a play on words of "Break-beats created from the heart"

The artwork for "Broken Heart-Beatz Vol 1"is taken from the original promotional CD which provided the opportunity to work with Apeman Records. At the time of its conception and release Kraze One was fully encompassed in all aspects of Hip Hop culture and actively pursuing all available opportunities to progress in the music scene.
